P7: Food-Packaging Robotics

The food-packaging use-case addresses packaging of various food products like packs of cookies and bags of chips. The task is to pick these products from a bin and place them in a variety of containers. The robot(s) need to reorient the products, possibly using two arms, as the products are positioned in the bin in random poses. Using the capabilities developed in projects P1 to P4 this use-case addresses the challenge of how to deal with variation tasks, variation in containers and limited observability of objects (see Figure 2).

Program coherence: This use-case project will receive input from P1 to P4. This use-case project will provide requirements in terms of functionality and performance as well as data to P1 to P4. Similarities in software and hardware architectures to be used in projects P5, P6 and P7 will be explored and exploited.
